Website design and development

(WHAT IT IS)

Southern Exposure Media Group (SXMG) designs and builds websites for businesses in Atlanta and North Georgia, many of them restaurants and food halls. Each site connects to the systems the business already uses: OpenTable for reservations, Toast or ChowNow for ordering, or a third-party checkout for an online store.

Our current builds are written in custom code (Next.js), and we host and look after them. Every site launches with search basics in place and, where staff need it, a private dashboard for events, posts and messages.

(RESTAURANT WEBSITES)

What a restaurant website has to do

A restaurant site has a few jobs: show the menu, take the booking or the order, sell the gift card, and fill the private room and the events calendar. We build for those jobs.

Menus go on the page as real text that Google and AI assistants can read, not as a PDF. The reservation button opens OpenTable, the order button opens Toast or ChowNow, private dining has its own inquiry form, and staff add events and posts from a back office. Pages carry restaurant structured data with the address, hours and menu.

(HOW WE WORK ON IT)

How a website build runs

  1. 01.

    Discovery

What the site has to do, who will update it, and which systems it has to talk to.

  2. 02.

    Preview

You get a private preview link while the site comes together.

  3. 03.

    Rounds of notes

We work through your notes in rounds until the site is right.

  4. 04.

    Launch and handover

The site goes live on your domain with redirects, tracking and search files in place, then we crawl it. Your team gets staff accounts and a short note on how to publish.

  5. 05.

    Care

Menu changes, new pages, seasonal updates and security updates.

(THE WORK)

Website work we can show

We also rebuilt S&S Rug Cleaners' site in custom code in July 2026, keeping every page at its original address. And we moved Phoenix Parking Solutions USA's site off Webflow, rebuilt it page for page and launched it by July 2026, then added a newsroom back office in October 2026.

(PLATFORMS)

  • Google Ads
  • Google Search Console
  • Google Maps

(WHO IT IS FOR)

Who we build websites for

Restaurants and food halls, a butcher shop and market, spirits and beverage brands, a rug cleaning company and a parking management company all have sites we built or look after.

(QUESTIONS)

Questions about website design

How do you design a website for a restaurant?

Southern Exposure Media Group starts with what guests come to the site to do: read the menu, book a table, order, buy a gift card or plan an event, and puts each of those one tap away. Sliced Pizza's menu is text guests can filter by category. CHR Steak and Nan Thai Buckhead take reservations and private dining inquiries through OpenTable, Frazie's Meat & Market takes orders through Toast and Nan Thai Buckhead through ChowNow, and the CHR Steak and Chattahoochee Food Works teams publish their own events from a back office. Pages also carry restaurant structured data, so search engines read the address, hours and menu correctly.

Can we see every form submission ourselves, and which form it came from?

Yes, on sites where SXMG builds a team dashboard. Chattahoochee Food Works' dashboard keeps contact messages in one place, sorted by category, and staff can reply by email from it. CHR Steak's back office lists reservation inquiries, contact messages and newsletter sign ups separately. Chattahoochee's forms also hold on to a submission if the database or email service is briefly down.

What do you do about spam forms and suspicious emails after a new domain goes live?

SXMG builds bot protection into public forms and tightens it if spam gets through. CHR Steak's forms run a spam check on every submission, Chattahoochee Food Works' forms add disposable email blocking and rate limits, and Sliced Pizza's forms use a hidden honeypot field, a timing check and rate limits. For email, we set up the domain records that let inboxes trust your mail (SPF, DKIM and DMARC), as we did for Penny Patrol's business email in October 2025.
